Description

The official currency of Thailand. The symbol ฿ comes from the first letter of the word "baht" in the Thai alphabet. One of the most stable currencies in Southeast Asia.

History

The baht was introduced in 1897, replacing the tical. The name "baht" was originally a weight measure for gold and silver. The modern symbol is standardized in Thailand.
