Description

The official currency of Bolivia. The symbol "Bs" stands for "bolivianos". Named after Simón Bolívar, leader of the independence struggle of Spanish colonies in South America.

History

The modern boliviano was introduced in 1987, replacing the peso boliviano at a rate of 1 boliviano = 1,000,000 pesos. This is already the second currency with this name in Bolivia's history.
