The official currency of Angola. The symbol "Kz" stands for "Kwanza". The name comes from the Kwanza River, the longest river in Angola.

History

The current kwanza was introduced in 1999, replacing the old kwanza at a rate of 1 new kwanza = 1,000,000 old kwanzas. This is already the third version of the currency with this name.
